Scrivito JS 1.8.0 Released – Featuring Quick Search

Improvements

Introducing the search panel

Scrivito’s sidebar now includes a search panel that allows editors to hunt for pages directly in the editing interface. It is no longer required to use the search provided by the app – if it has one. Just enter the search term in the input field and watch the results list update automatically as you type.

The search results are ordered by relevance, and search terms found in the title are highlighted. You can navigate to a page simply by clicking its entry in the results, analogously to the hierarchy browser. In contrast to the latter, the search covers all of your content, not just the pages part of your website’s hierarchy. When hovering over an entry, a menu appears that lets you open the page properties or delete the page.

Validation errors even easier to fix

Starting at version 1.7.0, Scrivito lets you define validations to check whether the content changes made in a working copy meet your requirements. Errors are not only displayed directly on the pages themselves and made visible on the sidebar as well as the changes dialog, but can now also be seen on properties dialogs.

Clicking a validation notification on the sidebar causes the properties view to be opened and the tab concerned to be automatically selected, making it really easy for editors to instantly fix the issue.

New API: Is content editable?

The Scrivito JS SDK now lets you determine whether or not content can be changed by the editor working in the UI. By means of Scrivito.canWrite, input elements that cannot be deactivated automatically (e.g. custom components) can be disabled to prevent the attribute value concerned from being changed.
