All Your Images Belong to Your Website!

Scrivito now lets you specify a custom domain for your images

We’ve heard that visitors to Scrivito-based websites are again and again amazed by the high speed at which page content is delivered. This is due in particular to the fast loading times for images, which are achieved mainly by us hosting them on a CDN (Content Delivery Network). Images usually represent the largest proportion of the data to be transferred, so they are the best starting point for website optimization in terms of speed.

Default delivery through scrvt.com

Images (as well as other binary data) could previously be delivered only through Scrivito’s AWS CDN host, scrvt.com, and not through any customer’s corporate website domain so visitors to your site will occasionally have come across scrvt.com addresses, for example, when they downloaded an image. Such a domain name mismatch may raise questions and therefore has the potential to overshadow the user experience.

Have your images served via your domain

We fully understood your concern and thus immediately set to work! As a result, there’s a new option in the Dashboard’s settings for your Scrivito CMS, “Custom CDN Host”.

In the “Danger Zone”, at the bottom of the page, you can now specify your own host and thus the domain name to appear in the URLs of images and other binary data on your site, but, of course, this host needs to be first set up for the URLs to be forwarded as designed. For further details, see the documentation.

Thanks again for your great feedback!
