Scrivito JS 1.12.0 Released – Featuring Workflows and Page History

Workflows for team-based content editing and publishing

Managing workflows

Scrivito now offers workflows to support companies with having content creation, maintenance, and publishing tasks accomplished in a productive and targeted manner.

Workflows help you with maintaining the high quality of your content. By forming teams based on responsibilities and expertise, and letting them focus on specific website sections or content, you can always be confident that everyone does what they are best at. Workflows free up time by reducing the effort required to ensure that the proper sequence of steps in the editorial cycle is observed.

With Scrivito, a workflow is made up of two teams, one for editing and one for reviewing and publishing website areas, however extensive or small. As an example, think of your blog (if you have one) and the editors occupied with writing posts, plus a team of reviewers who finally publish their working copies.

Read more about workflows in our Editor’s Guide, Collaborating Using Workflows, and in our new documentation section, the Admin’s Guide.

Tracking down changes to individual pages

Did you ever want to know which changes have been applied to a specific page in the recent past? Scrivito now includes a page history to let you find out with ease: Simply select the “Published content” from the working copy list, then click the “History” button on the sidebar and select the “Changes” view mode. Voilà! On the “This page” tab, you can now pick one of the previously published versions of the current page to inspect the modifications made to it in the course of time. This is ideal for finding changed or deleted pieces of content, for example.

Managing content visibility options for editors

Managing visibility categories

We made managing intranets, password-protected previews and similar websites much easier: You now have full control of the content visibility options available to editors.

“Publicly available” is the default setting. If a team member permitted to manage visibility categories disables this default, and it is also removed from all existing content to which it was assigned, all new content will be visible to logged-in visitors only.

One team for managing all editors

Does your editorial staff change frequently, or do you sometimes need to alter everyone’s permissions? Scrivito now lets you do this in one go. For this, a built-in virtual team is now available, “All Editors”, of which every editor automatically is a member. This way, a user permitted to manage users can grant the basic editing permissions to all editors at once.
